Garonne Park Walker

Garonne Park Walker was accepted into the AERA Hall of Fame on 19 January 2025 on nomination by NSW ERA.

Garonne Park Walker, AERA number 2526, meeting the criteria to be included in the AERA Hall of Fame as he has completed 5 of any one marathon over 320 kms or above.

Garonne Park Walker was always a feisty gelding who did not like strangers and would often vet higher in heart rates depending on his attitude to who held the stethoscope. He complete 6,481 kms and was so well known that everyone would address him by name and give him a pat before TPR or vetting.

He completed Shahzada 6 times and on one occasion he won best managed. As Kym Hagon went to place the best managed sash on, Stu (Stuart Lymbery) said, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Kym replied, “He’ll be right, he’s just done 400 kms.” The sash never mase it around his neck and in one bound he sent all the horses that had lined up, scattering. That was so Walker. He was twice 1st Heavyweight at Shahzada, and once 2 nd Junior with Sarah Lymbery.

Walker completed 4 Quiltys, 2 x NSW State Championships winning Heavyweight in one of those, and also completed another 2 x 160 km rides. All in all he did 48 endurance rides.

He also achieved a Decade Team award with Stuart Lymbery with a total of 4859 kms together and he has been National Points horse for Heavyweight in 2011.

Garonne Park Walker retired sound and lives in a large hill paddock very much beloved by us.
